Nightwish

Skupinu Nightwish, pocházející z finského městečka Kitee, založil roku 1996 klávesák a skladatel Tuomas Holopainen s vizí tvořit vlastní hudbu,nese pouze podílet na projektech a počinech ostatních kapel.Napsal píseň "Nightwish",požádal o spolupráci své dva přátele,zpěvačku Tarju Turunen a kytaristu Emppu Vuorinena,a v této sestavě nahráli téhož roku tří-skladbové demo,pojmenované po první písni jednoduše "Nightwish". Kapele už potom nikdy nikdo jinak neřekl,takže si nakonec nechali tento název i jako jméno kapely. Co se hudebního stylu týče,jejich hudba by se dala nazvat jako symfonický metal,ale kapela sama o sobě tvrdí: "Hrajeme melodický heavy-metal."
