Amon Amarth

Švédská melodic-death metalová kapela Amon Amarth zabývající se vikingskou kulturou a mytologii pochází z Tumby, což je městská část Stockholmu. Základní kámen ke vzniku kapely položil Olavi Mikkonen v roce 1988, když zformoval kapelu SCUM. V roce 1991 vydává kapela první demo, avšak až roku 1992 vychází demo ?Thor Arise?. Od této doby vystupuje skupina pod názvem Amon Amarth (název vymyslel údajně Ted Lundström ? Amon Amarth označuje horu Osudu, která se nachází na pláni Gorgoroth v Mordoru.). ?The Arrival of the Fimbul Winter? je název dalšího dema, které vyšlo v roce 1994 a mělo nemalý úspěch (prodalo se kolem 1500 kopií). Přelomem v historii kapely bylo vydaní MCD ?Sorrow Throughout the Nine Worlds.? Toto album mělo obrovský úspěch (prodalo se 6000 kopií).
